Happy New Year and congratulations are both in order in this month’s Flight Test News. Our colleagues at USAF TPS, USN TPS, National TPS, International TPS, and Empire have sent a wave of new FTEs into the world. Both of these occasions give us the opportunity to pause and reflect. In what serves as a kind of virtual “halftime talk,” I share some of my thoughts about how to measure success, for both the new and the old.
This edition continues the patch sharing frenzy that started just a month ago. Most of it has occurred on facebook, but this month, two of the graduating classes share their patch, a tradition that has illustrated the history and legacy of our flight test profession particularly well.
Finally, as promised, this issue includes the award winning Best Paper from the 2017 Symposium, a treat for all those who resolved to read more technical papers in the New Year.
Looking forward to your thoughts, replies, patches and puns. You know how to reach me.
